They are descended from bullbaiting dogs that were specifically bred to bite and hold bulls and other animals’ faces. Pitbulls are more prone to unpredictable aggression and the stats on maulings back that up. Look up some articles about mauling and you will inevitably read the pit’s owner saying “he was so lovely and loyal and he’s never done anything like this before blah blah blah”. Even with training, they have this propensity.
On top of that, humans are a much greater threat to other humans than dogs but you’re not talking about rounding them all up.
