IDK how to word it better but for example, I always assumed the Washington Post was named after the state rather than DC

I used to think the TLC song went “Go Go Jason Waterfalls.”

If I'm understanding your question correctly, I thought Xzibit was somehow just a 90s pop culture icon because of Pimp My Ride. I was a kid and had only ever heard him featured in songs and didn't know he made his own music. I thought other artists were featuring him in their songs for like shitty 90s memes, I guess. I was literally a teenager before I realized that he was a rapper first and that's how he probably landed the spot on Pimp My Ride.

I really don't think I'm understanding the question correctly, but I hope you at least get a laugh out of this if I'm off base and rambling about Pimp My Ride here. 😂😂

Not sure if this fits but when I was a kid I thought that Michael Jackson and Michael Jordan were the same person. I thought this Michael J-n guy was a star basketball player and after that he did a bunch of cosmetic surgeries (which explained why he looks so different in pics) and became a hit musician. I wanna say I made it to high school before I noticed that their names were different.
