Let's say the trombonist's house has thin walls. How early can they start tooting it without you being bothered?
I figured it was late enough that it wouldn't bug third shifters and early enough that it didn't bug sleeping kids
Probably about 2 PM. Usually I wait until all my housemates are at least awake and forewarned before doing loud things

Generally, I would say 10 am is fair, 8 is too early for some people.
I would image nearly everyone is up by 8:00 so I wouldn’t say that’s too early
I think it's the same rules as hoovering or lawn mowing. Probably about 10am - 11am but you could just ask your neighbour.

I would say the same as tradesmen working noisy equipment. In the uk that is 8am-6pm weekdays. 8am-1pm on a weekend. This is your job so it would follow that it takes the same hours as that. However I would say that trombones are not quite the same as a disk cutter, so perhaps run the times an hour or so later, e.g. 9/10am - 7/8pm weekdays dependant on local conditions. Likewise for the weekend maybe flex your times respectfully about local religious customs where appropriate.
Also most importantly, talk to your neighbours. They need to have quiet enjoyment of their residence and you need to practice. Find an equitable solution where possible showing compassion and understanding. E.G. if you have a nurse or factory worker who works nights, try to flex about their sleep schedule. They need to sleep right?
To be honest, it’s also not unreasonable to hire or find practice space if you need to be regularly creating noise. Probably easier for you to concentrate in a dedicated space too.

Ahh… I did not understand that it was your neighbour’s kid. You’re fucked then. There is nothing else for it. You’re going to have to get up to hijinks: dress up as a child, infiltrate the neighbours kid’s school, become the coolest most popular ‘kid’ there. Then using that social status with the other kids convince them to bully all trombone players. (Maybe some collateral here). Then, with any luck, the bullying from the neighbour’s kids peers causes the them to give up the hobby, winning you your peace and quiet back.
Or frame the child for murder? A little time in Juvie will sort the issue…
