- 5 eggs
- 5 spoons of sugar
- Half glass of oil
- Half glass of wine (yes, wine), whichever you have.
- 10 spoons of flour
- Pinch of salt
- Cinammon/nutmeg/ginger/clove/lemon zest/pepper/chile/go wild girl!
Mix everything, let it rest in the fridge (or not) and use your favourite waffle iron
Your Italian grandma might come after you for sharing the family recipe. Also, traditional (according to my little, old, Italian grandma) is anise extract, though my favorites are lemon and chocolate.
Also, also: Sicilian Italian here. We’ve NEVER used wine in ours. I find that really interesting.
It really doesn't leave that much flavor, so I like to use red wines cuz stronger flavor.
Don't personally like anise very much, but it's frequent in ¿pastries? from that region; but they use normal anise. (I do like star anise, but in stews and other salty things)
