I’ve been to several places that advertise their 100% PLANT BASED BURGER!!, but it’s just the patty. The thing still comes smothered in cheese and god knows what else.
Vegetarians are why we cannot have nice things.
It is so tedious because good vegan cheese already exists.All. The. Time.
My favorite is when it comes on a brioche bun. Oh, goodie—milk AND eggs. I’m okay with the patties being cooked on the same grill (if I’ve agreed to eat there, I’ve already accepted that’s going to be the case), and I can ask them to leave off the cheese, but I can never trust the bread. Half the bread in the damn grocery store has milk in it—stands to reason the restaurants do too. And then, of course, if you ask about it, you’re lucky if you get someone who understands. Half the time waiters will lie to you—even if they actually check*
*Not a slam on waiters, its a shit job with shit pay, but they’re overworked and underpaid and sometimes they just don’t care.
Vegan/plant based/meat free will be the new marketing terms and will soon be 100% useless. Add them to the pile: Trans-fat free, GMO free, with antioxidants, no saturated fats, low sodium, no artificial colors, MSG, etc
Vegan will just mean "healthy", but then they'll throw plant fat, processed God knows what, sugar, etc and it'll just be the same garbage everyone eats, but without animals (directly) in it
Beyond Burger, Thicc slice of cheese, Brioche bun. Name a more iconic trio.
