Hopefully you were careful and didn’t have a big gathering. There were just five of us, but I got to hear some absolute bangers.

lagunitas has this "hop seltzer" that's non-alcoholic and I love it, it's got all the fun of a good IPA but none of the bigass body. that being said I'm a big fan of 8% IPAs, happen to be drinking an 8% Nelson Sauvin single hop NEIPA right now.

I’ve had that! It’s a bit odd at first, not gonna lie I’m on the bubbly water kick, and that’s what it reminded me of, but I did sorta like it!

I do love my 8% too lol. I’m just at that point in my life* where I’m like ooook maybe not that much all at once

      *im flirting with 40

yeah I'm really loving that it's becoming easier and easier to chill on the alcohol on a social level. I keep seeing various friends sharing mocktail recipes and posts about normalizing not drinking and stuff and it's great. alcohol isn't exactly great for us. (This also may be more of an age thing too; I'm roughly 30 so basically also an old at this point)

but like, I'm also a huuuuuuuuuge beer nerd so I just love opening something new to smell and drink and tell tasting notes to nobody about.

I mean the article that they shared was like basically a bunch of good alcoholic drinks that don't really need any alcohol in them to be good... like moscow mule (ginger beer and lime juice) mojitos (muddled mint, lime juice, sugar and soda water) daiquiris(lime juice and fruit and like maybe a shitload of ice in a blender honestly this drink is anything you want at this point...) and they mentioned things like martinellis apple cider instead of champagne.... but like so many of those do rely on quite a lot of sugar, but generally you can control the sugar amount and it'll stay pretty balanced. oh tepache! that's the cool thing to drink now, just fermented pineapple stuff, it's more kombucha-ish levels of alcohol and apparently it's really easy to make. I'm also a big fan of italian sodas from baladin (they're a beer brewery with some great stuff) their soft drinks are amazing, they have a Spuma that's like a negroni without any alcohol and pretty mild sugar. https://www.baladin.it/en/spuma-nera
