Hopefully you were careful and didn’t have a big gathering. There were just five of us, but I got to hear some absolute bangers.
My mother-in-law (who lives with us anyway) tried to tell us that John Kerry would fix the climate because "He's a tough guy, he might punch someone"
I almost choked on my turkey
Has your mother in law been spamming this website with John Kerry posting by chance?
so much lib shit
one example, "I'm just so relieved America made the right choice. I feel like a different person since the election!"
I had to mute my end of the zoom call because at that point, I lost the ability to restrain my snark
shortly after that my grandmother expressed her gratitude for the lincoln project
Lincoln project is something interesting to discuss. I like to think of it as like a wheelchair ramp for Republicans.
And that’s really about where I leave off with them.
at least everyone who knows me knows what they're getting into when they say that shit so I don't have to pretend lol
Me and the GF had the day off so painted our hallway and spoke about how it was American genocide day.
That she doesn't know whether Bezos actually worked 60 Billion times harder than his warehouse workers or that he should pay taxes at all.
I'm real lucky; my immediate family is generally pretty reasonable as far as knowing the more egregious lib shit won't fly with me. When they talk about being relieved I remind them that most of the most damaging policies are no closer to change, that basic, popular, and obviously morally imperative policies are no closer to passing or even being championed by the administration, that the material conditions that produced trump won't ever be challenged by the dems, etc. So we just talk about the funny shit like rudy's dye sweat or the trump lawsuits not knowing the difference between MI and MN. The whole "politics is sports for nerds" thing really sums up our interactions tbh.
I’m almost certain we shared the same house this evening.
I was the guy with the low cal beer on the couch and the cold hands
heh don't even get me started on the concept of "low cal beer"; the rant on that is just as long as the rant about DNC malfeasance in the primaries.
I had a “fuuuck this is pretty cool, a 3 cal 4% beer” when my partners dad showed me one. Not gonna lie, what attracted me the most was the feature to not get super shitty off 8% IPA. At the end of the night, the 4% session was awwright
lagunitas has this "hop seltzer" that's non-alcoholic and I love it, it's got all the fun of a good IPA but none of the bigass body. that being said I'm a big fan of 8% IPAs, happen to be drinking an 8% Nelson Sauvin single hop NEIPA right now.
I’ve had that! It’s a bit odd at first, not gonna lie I’m on the bubbly water kick, and that’s what it reminded me of, but I did sorta like it!
I do love my 8% too lol. I’m just at that point in my life* where I’m like ooook maybe not that much all at once
*im flirting with 40
yeah I'm really loving that it's becoming easier and easier to chill on the alcohol on a social level. I keep seeing various friends sharing mocktail recipes and posts about normalizing not drinking and stuff and it's great. alcohol isn't exactly great for us. (This also may be more of an age thing too; I'm roughly 30 so basically also an old at this point)
but like, I'm also a huuuuuuuuuge beer nerd so I just love opening something new to smell and drink and tell tasting notes to nobody about.
Yeah! I just wish the folks around me where into sharing things like mocktails. Any fun recipes i could share with my partner and company?
My family invited this lonely guy over from their church and he went on a long spiel about how Western Civilization is going to collapse 3 generations from now, Inshallah. He's one of those conservatives that thinks he's hot shit cause he reads a lot of revisionist history lol. I overheard my Aunt say something later on in the same conversation about how defunding the police scares her.
I stayed home by myself and drank tequila .
I love my family, but holy shit is it nice to not have to do thanksgiving.
I drank a fifth and a quarter of cazadores dare me to drive. Also a 200 ml hennesy and like four ciders. It was a pretty good day. Damn we need a Larry David emoji. @Beatnik Larry David emoji when.
Didn't drive but might have accidentally adopted an old Christian African American senior citizen lady.
Best takes were related to Sidney Powell. Apparently, she has the power to bring the libs to military tribunals. If Donald Trump has turned his back on her, than he is an idiot.
And they think tucker Carlson is a leftist now
Literally every single person was talking about how the election was rigged. my super SUPER religious step gm who is like 80 said Trump was the best president in her lifetime and his coming victory is gods plan. I wanted to bring up the whole banging pornstars and paying for abortions but I didn’t want to be that guy.
my dogs barked, the cats meowed and also hissed, the fish were silent
Damn. The fish are good sports and must not bring up politics.
hah, I cant stop coughing so I didn't do thanksgiving this year!
