Imagine if the internet was this corporatized and censored back around 2003-2008. In that 5 year span, we would've never got all the stories about Abu Ghraib or anything else regarding war crimes and what was going on Iraq and Afghanistan. Those journalists would've been deemed traitors and terrorists.

I expect in Biden's presidency, there is going to be even more crackdown on internet censorship. It's coming after net neutrality was axed too. Trump and his people were more concerned about enriching themselves to really care about this stuff. But Biden and Harris are the types of authoritarians who will push for more censorship and giving corporations more power.

Think of how quickly the Afghanistan Papers disappeared down the memory hole.

Big tech companies are tax exempt and fall outside the laws, which is how they have censorship power to begin with.

The GOP made it clear before this election that they would be gunning for Big Tech and wanting to break those companies up if they keep the senate. If they do this, and can frame it as they are trying to protect free speech and privacy rights of the everyman, it's going to look bad on Dems whom all those CEOs donate money to and support. The GOP will be able to frame it that they're going after Big Tech and punishing those companies while Dems just sit there and do nothing, allowing them to write the narrative.
