I don't even know what they're called, but I want to start a !cars. Because it would be so great to have a leftist space for car enthusiasts. Any time anything political comes up, you just get horribly out-of-touch hatred getting spewed everywhere in the comments section. People that have enough money to buy a corvette or used 911 tend to lean conservative.
So I like this. I am a domestic violence survivor and was intentionally denied the chance to learn to drive due to this. This has made me extremely vulnerable violence and has drastically reduced my ability to provide mutual aid to my community and get employed. Car culture can be scary for me because of how...right wing a lot of it. Though mainstream car culture is toxic, cars are actually really good for people who need to escape abuse, especially in rural areas or if a person cannot afford urban and suburban housing costs.
