    The best of the movies, tho. A fun, whimsical basically self contained movie. 2 and 3 are ok. The second half is garbage. Too serious for very little payoff

    Its like reading Lord of the Rings books, holy crap they move slow before they get to the interesting bits.

    The first one is actually my favorite because it's so simple. Harry Potter was at it's best when it was a whimsical children's story. The later books are shitty fantasy about angsty teenagers.

    There's a pretty good satire on the English middle class happening in these opening chapters though. Nothing special, but some of the best writing of the entire series.

    What will blow your mind is how it mirrors Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Even the titles are constructed in a similar way.

        No shit? I know Rowling pulled a lot from other stories to the point where it was bordering between allusion and plagiarism lol.

        Yeah, I remember reading Great Expectations (the first part) and thinking: "Oh, so that's where Rowling got her entire way of writing from".
