Directed by Remi Weekes. With Sope Dirisu, Wunmi Mosaku, Malaika Wakoli-Abigaba, Matt Smith. A refugee couple makes a harrowing escape from war-torn South Sudan, but then they struggle to adjust to their new life in an English town that has an evil lurking beneath the surface.
I felt like there were moments that didn't belong in it, like the whole movie was actually kind of subtle and careful up until the monster shows up and starts spooking everyone. I just wish it had preserved that type of mystery the entire way. Also the wife doesn't remember what happened which isn't really explained. Very clever moments, though, just feel like everything netflix touches is slightly off or bad somehow, though. I can't really think of a netflix movie that I'd want to rewatch.
Agreed. I felt like there needed to be more actual dialog between the husband and wife, which could be a good way of explaining the back story more. It would also break up the long periods of waiting for the scary monster in the walls to show itself.
Netflix movies seem to be weaker than Netflix shows somehow.
