This game is pretty cool but the imperialist propaganda is grating. I looked up the original Rainbow 6 book and the protagonist is a CIA operative who forms a NATO counter-terrorism group, Rainbow (because they’re so diverse). The bad guys are a group of left wing eco terrorists. At the end, since there won’t be enough evidence to convict the terrorists, he strips them naked and leaves them in the middle of the Amazon to die (since they love nature so much). American culture is so cool, Tom Clancy is our hero.
Fun Tom Clancy fact: to avoid taxes, he put the trademark to "Jack Ryan" in his wife's name. Then they divorced on very poor terms, and she kept the trademark. That's why he published no more Jack Ryan books before he died, and the $ from the Amazon show goes to her.
Also shout-out to him for the worst written sex scene in fiction, when Ryan's wife gives him a handjob with a dishtowel in the shower.
