Well it depends what you want. Generally a team should have at least an Attacker, a Special attacker, wall(physical def), sponge(special def), and two more to fill in gaps. Also one should be really fast.

    Bronzor perhaps?

The above advice is more for meta battles but i dont see why it wouldnt help in game too.

Swords dance garchomp sheds enemy team. That pokemon was banned to highest competitive tier in 4th generation

Lookin' good. Where are you in the game right now? Must be by at least Pastoria by now. I wouldn't really replace Empoleon with Vaporeon. They have similar base stats, but Empoleon having steel is a big plus. Besides, you would do more good evolving Eevee into a flareon as your 6th to round things out!

There are only like 2 fire types if you don't take Chimchar as your stater, so either flareon or a ponyta (to evolve into rapidash) would be nice.

i'd high key suggest an ice type. froslass (who's a bit tough to work with bc of the frailty, might be a fun challenge), weavile, maybe even glaceon? cynthia is tough without an ice type to crush her garchomp before it gets going

Get you a Zangoose! X-Scissor + Close Combat for some versatility on a normal type pokemon! Not to mention False Swipe if you want someone to help making catches easier.

Fury Cutter and Swords Dance also - now that I think about it, I used to rely on this more than X-Scissor for cleaving down psychic grass and dark types.

I usually try and have a fire STAB mon (same type attack bonus, pokemon of the same type get a 50% boost in power for moves of the same type) because of coverage. Dragon is really good in this gen bc it resists everything and is only weak to dragon and ice. You could replace garchomp with altaria, and get a fast fire mon.

since its platinum, houndoom is available. probably one of the better and more available fire types.
