Like, is it interesting or extremely ableist/saneist? I have DID and have known people with various cognitive diversities.

It gets into supernatural and psychic powers shit which just felt like a complete divergence from what originally felt like it was at least based in some scientific process even if it was never fully explained. On top of that it takes place 100+ years after the first series. It is absolutely insane how much the characters of the series carry it, I completely lost all emotional attachment to the series without Akane and the squad.

Also each episode is 40 minutes which makes it even harder to watch if you're upset with those two aspects.

I might be misremembering something then perhaps. Regardless it doesn't actually matter, moving to a different set of main characters like as I was very invested in Akane. This might be a gender thing though too as I get far more invested in female protagonists than I do in male ones.
