Sometimes people will send me music they like and I'll listen to it and think "Oh this sounds good", but it never comes with a desire to listen to it more, or to check out that artist's other work. Have you listened to Ali Farka Touré? The guy is a gateway drug to African music. I think most of the music made in Africa (particularly Mali) has been light years ahead of anything else for decades. The first song of his I ever heard was “Karaw” on Festival in the Desert.
