Has he decided to go back and apologize for all the misogynistic shit he was saying about 5 years ago? He was involved with the whole "Skeptic" atheist crowd mixed in with Gamergate ranting about feminism last I seen of him. I don't trust him unless he owns up to his mistakes and is willing to apologize for it and sincerely become a better person.

That would be fair, but I think if he did that, basically everyone of his reactionary followers would ditch him immediately. If he's geniune about this, better to introduce it piecemeal, so he can open a few eyes. If he's genuine he will own up to his mistakes eventually. If he's genuine the apology must come from him slowly changing his mind and figuring out why to apologize, not because "the SJWs forced him to" thus creating a shallow shibboleth apology that satisfies nobody

He isnt based at all really.

He looks to be better than he used to be, he made a video on leftism in which he said capitalism bad and supported Medicare for all. But he also made a video on racism and a lot of his takes show a very impoverished understanding of race and the history of colonialism & slavery in America. He displayed very class reductionist sentiments, and, while acknowledging that systemic racism exists, he blames it entirely on the ruling class.

I think pretty much with the recent rise of "anti-idpol" "leftists" he has discovered a way to maintain his reactionary tendencies while supporting economic policies that would benefit him personally.

All I can really do is hope that he reads some theory somehow, and is able to take it on board and not just dismiss it, but that's probably a huge ask.

Reminds me of all the unions in the 30s like the UAW and the CPUSA just tailing racist white people instead of trying to attract minorities.

Yeah a lot of them same UAW people when they got their benefits stopped giving a shit and just went back to being normal reactionaries. Like if some “leftist” only really talks about basic shit like M4A which is just having the government pay insurance companies instead of you or free college as well as holding reactionary viewpoints socially either currently or recently, than we shouldn’t just look at them as like turning to the left or even something as radical as becoming a communist. They might just want free shit for themselves and have accepted that everyone having it is the way they get it.

my point is that many of us here were cringe atheists five years ago, just like that guy, and nobody purity tested us. he won't switch sides if we are hostile to him. we should want him to switch sides, with his considerable platform. that doesn't mean we give up on feminism, just that we let him learn at his own pace. you can't expect (former?) enemies to fight by your rules. o l i v e b r a n c h

Idk, if he was a grifting he should've kept being a chud, there's way more money to be made on the right, also his audience was mostly chuds and he'll have to rebuild it.
