To seem like a benevolent nice CEO while also getting the vaccine early? I don’t really know, I was just throwing it out there.
It seems extremely tone deaf in political atmosphere where "will you take a Covid vaccine?" was a question at the VP debate. It's not just something that online weirdos argue about; it's made it into mainstream politics. CEOs can be tone deaf on lots of stuff, but it seems like a real stretch here.
As for why he wouldn't lie and say he took it: if he lies about taking it and gets sick or even dies, boom, good luck selling the vaccine as effective.

That's the easiest thing in the world to spin, though. It's one dose, and he can say "look, here's how much I believe it's safe and effective -- I put it in my own body."
