"wooden" was a euphemism of the time meaning "Ill fitting" or "clunky and shoddy"

Were they ill-fitting and shoddy? The dude was like a billionaire by modern standards. I assume he could afford the very best.

One of the very first Dollop episodes was on Washington's various mouth problems and dentures, its a fascinating/horrifying/hilarious rabbit hole. If it makes you feel any better (or maybe even a touch sympathetic?), his entire mouth was basically constant, painful liquid rot from his like 30s until he died.

I'm not here defending anything, just adding that most people don't know where a lot of our myths came from.

I would guess that money wasn't always a "get out of jail free card" when the technology would only get you so far.

Man, this shit is horrifying. Did they like pull teeth from people or take them from the dead?

Call me a speciesist here but if the alternative to them was ripping them from living human mouths I'd prefer they shoot the fucking elephants.

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong, what I'd actually prefer is a bullet in Washingtons skull, and an early end to the system that let people feel fine not only ripping teeth out of other people's mouths to put in your own but parading those stolen teeth around in public.

I'm struggling to articulate it, but I think I felt the need to reply that way because it felt a little weird/wrong/disrespectful/diminishing to bring up a less bad thing they also did in response to a horrible atrocity.

I could be off here tho.
