To what extent do people bring up politics/ disclose their chuddiness in the gyms you go to?
The environment at my gym is very right leaning and lots of cops train there I just keep my own personal politics to myself and train.
So I take that to mean just casual chuddy comments and vibes? Honestly, yeah, keeping stuff to myself and training would probably be my strategy.
I'll confess, I have no personal experience with bjj gyms, I've only done a little boxing and the two places I went when I did that didn't have a strong chud vibe (that I could notice at least, if I where to go back and interrogate the people there many were probably right-leaning given the right wing attraction to violence and domination). *EDIT: thinking back, I'm pretty sure there were no outright cops there, so maybe that's the difference?
I have a bunch of right wingers at my gym and then libs as well. One of my favorite people tugged at my heart strings when he started posting shit about Yang. Another person loves the same fantasy books as me but is a rich vet. That's just posting though. I dare say we almost never get into politics on the mats - and these are people I've known for 6 years. Unless you count the act of being a cop as political - perhaps it's more to say we never get into electoralism or... national priorities on the mat.
