Pavlos Fyssas was a Greek anti-fascist rapper who was killed by members of the fascist group Golden Dawn on this day in 2013.
Fyssas, also known as "Killah P" ("Killer of the Past"), came from a working class family. He and his father were both members of the Piraeus metal union. Pavlos had been active hip hop since 1997 and is well-known for his left-wing, anti-fascist lyrics.
On September 18th, 2013, Fyssas was fatally stabbed by Giorgios Roupakias, a member and employee of the neo-fascist party Golden Dawn. Following his death, there were a series of protests and rallies against Golden Dawn throughout Europe.
During one protest in Athens, attended by 2,500-10,000 people, anti-fascists began marching towards Golden Dawn's central offices and were arrested and beaten by police. On November 1st, 2013, a shooting took place at the Golden Dawn's Neo Irakleio offices in Athens, killing two members.
In October 2020, sixty-eight members of Golden Dawn were declared part of a criminal organization, and fifteen were convicted in charges relating to Pavlos' murder.
When asked about Pavlos' character by Al Jazeera, his mother stated "You're asking a mother about what kind of a person her son was. He was a free man."
"The world has become a big prison
and I'm looking for a way to break the chains
...
Let them come and find me at the mountain top, I'm waiting for them and I will not bother with fear."

have all of you a good day/night
rough day today. we've been giving rooms to several young trans people and the interpersonal drama has gotten so dire that we had to ask one of them to move out. it's cycle of abuse stuff so I really was to have empathy in repeatedly telling someone with seriousness mental healthy issues to
cw suicide
kill themselves - you know, as a joke, haha, nevermind how it's received -
and separately driving her into sobbing fits from other mistreatment has just driven us to the breaking point. we've been trying to mediate a discussion so issues could be aired and addressed but the central person in this has repeatedly agreed to be there and then just left this house at the agreed upon time.
what really breaks my heart is how this impacts the girl she's dating who also lives here. she's never had stable housing but she's moving out with her gf. she's apparently been participating in the abuse of the other girl but she'd been here for a while before her gf moved in 3 months ago (they met when we took her in) and was genuinely decent despite a lifetime of trauma. so I still struggle to imagine her complicity despite everyone else telling me she's been involved as well.
we forced a conversation today so we could set the expectation that the problem child had to move out and the fear on her gfs face the entire time was palpable. I hate this. I wish it weren't a safety issue. if they were just being rude to me or my wife, there's not a chance in hell we'd have forced the issue like this. but at the end of the day the very first house rule is being respectful to everyone else living here - and that line has been crossed so severely that to not act would be subjecting another young person to abuse and further trauma.
we agreed to revisit the issue in 2 weeks, after they've had some time to try and get a lease signed.
not really sharing this because I expect anyone here to make me feel better - my personal feelings are the least important factor here. just hoping from some words of wisdom.
I
That's a super fucked up situation, but it sounds like you made the right call. I don't think there's a better way to handle that situation.
