China's wide-field telescope, which is capable of surveying the entire sky from the Northern Hemisphere, has revealed a stunning image of the Andromeda Galaxy on Sunday. The photo is currently the world's largest field-of-view image of the Andromeda Galaxy with a high resolution.
Measuring 2.5 meters in diameter, the Wide Field Survey Telescope (WFST) is now the largest time-domain survey facility in the Northern Hemisphere. The telescope was officially put into operation in northwest China's Qinghai Province on September 17.

hot take but chinese astrophysics is the future. they're popping the fuck off right now. jwst is exciting but for most other stuff, china's got something excellent going
They are the future of pretty much everything. Diplomatic relations, win-win cooperation, scientific advancement, medical advancement, technological advancement, global development. Even China's animation industry (donghua) is overtaking Japan's (anime).
It's mind blowing how China's high quality development is always on an upward trend, in contrast to the West. James Webb Telescope and the ISS dominated by the US are so inconsequential and uninteresting in regard to the trend of the times. The only real progress in the US that can be expected is in regards to copying and chasing after China to maintain legitimacy, which I highly doubt they'll be able to reliably pull off.
China is now, and the future.
