not hard. they probably were so high off of power that they had no real care about ships or lives and more about showing that 'yeah we can just throw a handful of ships to the bottom of the sea with no issue because we the best'
He did a pretty good job grifting from the king and queen of Spain after a bunch of other monarchs told him to fuck off.
