    FWIW, this person is almost certainly doomed in terms of a career, lol. Academic positions arent exactly wide open, especially right now with covid cutting foreign students from coming. And for public policy, I think the Biden admin already picked up who they're going to want and any GOP admin wont hire a trans person (bigoted fucks). For the private sector...

    You know why they have business school and business degrees? A degree in economics doesnt teach you shit about how to run a capitalist business.

      Econ PhDs will always find a career. Tons of positions in government, it's not like they'll be looking for a political appointment. Private sector doesn't care if you're trans as long as you make them money, academic positions don't care if you're trans as long as you publish papers. There might be obstacles that aren't there for a cis person, but they're not "doomed"
