Analysts and policy experts said Beijing’s action against Ma’s companies was likely to have been sparked by the blunt speech he gave to the Bund summit in Shanghai on 24 October, criticising overbearing regulation and the state dominance of banking.

“We shouldn’t use the way to manage a train station to regulate an airport,” Ma said, according to a transcript. “We cannot regulate the future with yesterday’s means.

Sounds like he was pushing for liberalisation and Xi said "No".

Train stations are so much better than airports.

Last time I took amtrak they had the station changed to be more like an airport, like with a gate and shit for no reason, this experience has fueled my hatred for this country every time I feel my motivation slipping.

They’re redesigning it to save money for the companies who’ll buy the routes once Amtrak gets privatized in 3 years

Amtrak actually runs on private rail lines for most of its routes, they only own the cars and are deprioritize behind freight trains. Only a little bit (by miles) of the rail is Amtrak owned.

This is what it's like to take the Eurostar to London and it sucks.
