I fully expect that movie to be bad. I found Blade Runner 2049 beautiful visually but incredibly boring and forgettable beyond that, and I think the new Dune will be exactly the same - hopefully I'm wrong.
I agree for the Lynch movie; though I must say the miniseries was so much better. Their Frank Herbert's Dune is OK-ish, but where they really shine is in their Children of Dune adaptation. They did a surprisingly good job, and the whole cost is I imagine leagues behind that of Lynch's movie. Also, this Fremen song they produced is awesome (and so is the scene when it plays - specifically Paul Atreide's cleanup of the traitors mixed with the birth of the prescient twins - and the consequence for Chani).
Get ready for tons of people with shit takes once the movies come out.
