I hope Assange can one day be free. It would be hard to understate just how important exposing the USA & pals war crimes was for some people. I remember as a kid watching that infamous 'collateral murder' video and just truly having my bubble burst with regard to how the USA portrays itself in domestic propaganda and how it actually acts.

It's much easier to talk about something happening when there is irrefutable proof of it happening. It can't be dismissed as conspiracy theories that way.

Panama papers was the same, in that everyone knew tax havens are a thing, but it wasn't a big topic before the leaks (still isn't a big enough topic)

Everyone forgot about the panama papers in a nanosecond, to the point that no-one gave a shit when Daphne Galizia got car bombed
I fucking despair for our species

Manufacturing Consent could be 10x longer without running out of shocking examples.

They should honestly just publish a sequel every five years.

in what fucking way is his prosecution not politically motivated?

      :cat-confused:

the u.s has a hard on for giving whistleblowers extreme punishments, anyone saying such a trial would be "fair" is either ignorant or malicious.

i wonder which one a judge is

Not to mention, even if it was not politically motivated (it is), the US has the death penalty which goes against basic human rights. The UK has ratified the ECHR (protocols 6 and 13 of the same covering the death penalty), so on that basis alone he should not be deported. Not that this'll stop the UK from given the US what they want, though, I'm sure.

Wow an assange post and it's not filled with US state department lies. I'm honestly shocked in a good way.

So. It’s been so long, can someone catch me up to speed/give me the run down of what has happened with him?
