The only people who seriously believe Japan isn't part if Asia are wackos on the Japanese far right. I refuse to give them even the concession of "technically".
Japanese people are Asian. Japan also has a pretty antagonistic with almost the entirety of the rest of Asia. Most left wing Japanese people I’ve meet will be the first to tell you they are the “white people of Asia”. I would defiantly say they exist somewhat distinctly from the rest of the continent.
Just as black people can't be racist, Asian people cannot be weebs.
