      I love all those weird European folk instruments which are "Some shit we nailed into a stick and now fuck around with". Boomba, ugly stick, devil's fiddle, noise stick, all amazing.

          It's traditionally a broom (or similar) handle you've glued or nailed cans, bottle caps, bells and other shit on to, and you just sort of hit it with another stick. Incidentally I have never been beaten with one. Although I think technically an ugly stick is an American thing.
