As a fellow computer dum dum, it's surprisingly easy:
Enter a URL in the "URL" field on the Create Post page
A small "archive link" link will appear near the lower-right part of the "URL" field
Clicking that link will open a new tab that automatically archives your link -- this might take 30 seconds or so, but it'll keep working while you do stuff in other tabs
One's it's finished, that new tab will be an archived version of what you wanted to post. You can just copy the URL from that archived version and post it like anything else.
