A very dear family member owns, through inheritance and mortgages, three apartments which they rent out. They don't see anything wrong with this, but (from the stories I hear) they seem to be one of those "good" landl*rds. However, they are willing to listen and engage with my anticapitalist ramblings, agreeing on most points. They sometimes joke about selling all of it and donating it to a good cause instead of leaving it to other family members, because that would (somehow) "agree" with my leftie beliefs. My question, Comrades, is what should I suggest they should do with these properties? Unless I am terribly mistaken, they might even listen to what I tell them to do if I present a good argument (which I am currently lacking).
I would suggest that, but in one of the apartments tenants rent out rooms and in the others, the tenants leave after a few years, and they would just feel like the current tenants would just sell on very soon after they gave it.
