Now that you mention the years of lead I realize you may have a point. Problem with that in Italy was the moderates cracked down hard on the less organized right and from those years on the socialists lost a lot of political power, probably because the communist’s terrorism was better organized and more effective. I hope this situation leads to a real emboldening and radicalization of the American left, but we’ll have to see. By the way, the reason I’m particularly interested in your years of lead comparison is because my dad was in high school in the years of lead, and he had classmates who organized with the red brigades.
