As a trans woman currently on E, hormones may very well be aggravating her tendency towards edgy bad takes and cringe humor. Being on estrogen feels like being a teenager again and the person just has to deal with a warping, painful, spiritual experience discovering their body and sexuality; building a person where there had been a formless blob and finally being born after 25 odd years in the womb. Personally, I feel such a lack of continuity with my memories of previous life, that I think of that person as my dead father.

She is feeling angst and going through mood swings, feeling shame and regret, disgust and desire; a shifting and heaving identity, as her mind and body undergoes a beautiful and terrifying metamorphosis. And I haven’t even had surgery. While she is objectively an adult, and needs to take responsibility for her words, I think it’s worth it to be kinder to a person who is currently going through puberty.

im not gonna be nice to someone that makes ~1 million per year while doing minimal labor because theyre going through a second puberty. thats infantilization.

It's not infantilization to be kinder than you otherwise would towards, for example, someone with PTSD; someone who might be lashing out in pain and fear rather than malice. Not that that's necessarily the case here. I mostly just wanted to get it out there that what we go through is pretty intense and that our minds change as much as our bodies. I'm not trying to say it's an excuse, just maybe a reason why.

sure, i can get wanting to be kind to people from fucked up situations. ive got ptsd myself and talk to other people that have it about it every month. however, if a multimillionaire came into our group meeting, had ptsd, and started making apologia about everyone's abusers? when they could just buy a house to get away from their abuser, or afford expensive treatments that are out of reach for everyone else, or even get their abuser put in jail through legal action that is unavailable to others? yeah no i dont want to be kind to that hypothetical person.
