No, almost everyone holding on too long was just hoping Biden would literally shit his pants on stage, and then Bernie would start winning the 70% he needed to swing back. It wasn't even that farfetched or numerically impossible- Biden is dying, and he easily could have had an episode that would have scared the counter-trump vote away.
