Good. This is good and will ultimately result in less waste. They should offer a free one if it's your first phone and you actually need one (like, if you don't have a Samsung ID maybe, I'm sure there's a way to determine this) but this move is otherwise good.
Nope. Can't remember if I posted in the thread from when Apple made this decision like a month or two ago, but I had the same opinion. It's going to result in less waste and that's a good thing.
And like I just said, ideally they'd figure a way to give a charger and earbuds to anyone who needs them but I'm gonna wager that first-time phone buyers aren't the majority of people buying these and that most phone buyers have old ones.
I like the concept of less waste too but coming from a tech company that sustains itself on planned obsolence I somehow doubt this is about the waste and more about the $$$
I agree less waste is good. I think I was thrown off by the other poster asking if you were a bit. Sorry if it sounded like I thought this was totally bad. More like performative and empty.

They won't do that. They will charge you $50 for a new charger and cable.
Also can't speak for samsung but I've had to replace OEM charging cables because they were low quality and would fall apart after a year.
I agree but that's still an added cost to the phone you just bought. My point was more that Samsung isn't a benevolent company that's going to hook you up if you don't have a charger, they'll charge you a premium for an item that used to included in the cost of your very expensive phone.
Also personally I wouldn't buy a random $5 or $10 charger especially if you're getting it for rapid charging. I would honestly trust the shitty OEM charger over them, lol. A quality charger here in Canada is easily $30.
Do y'all have that issue with Samsung in particular? Our cables have mostly held up, except for the ones with cat teeth marks. I hear Apple cables are especially shitty.

Obviously that is the case, but I don't care because the outcome of less waste is objectively good.

Exactly. Samsung and Apple bad, too overpriced and evil, get something else. But waste is also bad
the goal is for sure more money but also I assume everyone buying a phone has a charger at home for their current phone

You're smart enough to know that cutting waste isn't the thing that you should be angry at in all that.

I mean, it's not like it's some unique patented charger. You can buy a generic one on the cheap.

Yeah the cables from Samsung and Apple are shit anyway, I would get third party ones if I got their phones. So it's a good move
I know they won't do that, I'm saying that they should do that.
I think it still includes the cables
If they want to reduce waste they need to make these cables more resilient. I have never seen a cable outlive a phone.

So don't buy one every year? Or idk I guess they could stop making phones entirely.

People cycling thru phones too fast is a completely separate problem that has nothing to do with chargers and earbuds.

If so, good for them.
