What a lousy argument to absolve capitalism from the crazy we're witnessing.
"Some people say guns don't kill people, people kill people. That couldn't be further from the truth. Obviously, people don't kill people, guns do."
That's literally the argument they're making here, and it's gaining traction among "left-leaning" libs. It's like saying "the reason the last domino fell is not the first domino, it's the second-to-last one."
Does it not get through their skulls that maybe, just maybe, it's both, racism and economic anxiety, that is fueling the anger? Just like it's both, people with guns, that kill other people?
People's anger is fueled by their (worsening) lot in life, and their given simple explanations: "It's brown people's fault! It's Hollywood! It's lazy kids with avocado toasts!" ...until it explodes.
They're activating the latent racism in people to absolve capitalism from it's sins, just like the narrative in the tweet above is trying to activate and stimulate people's inherent (and justifed) hate for racism to, you guessed it, absolve capitalism from it's sins. It's literally the same gameplan just from the opposite angle.
Tl,dr: be careful with "eCoNoMic aNXieTy" jokes, it's part of the same chain: the one around your neck.
Anyone disagree?
