well, fuck KPD for not aligning with the party that violently suppressed the socialist uprisings and killed KPD's leaders I guess

I think it could be better argued that the SPD killing Rosa and Karl and doing social fascist shit like that made them an enemy to the KPD which prevented any cooperation against Hindenburg, than it could be to say the SPD appointed Hitler by failing to stop Hindenburg.

If you establish the SPD failing to get a competent coalition against Hindenburg as being the same as appointing Hitler chancellor, I can’t see why someone couldn’t make the same argument about the KPD here. I just don’t agree with the argument based on what I know here.

There are also people here completely unfamiliar with German history who might see your “literally appointed Hitler chancellor” and try and argue that without knowing anything else, which I felt the need to dispute.

Doesn’t that link say the SPD supported the centrist candidate not Hindenburg? Also that the KPD ran their own candidate?

Doesn’t this just show an inability for the KPD to consider working with the SPD because of the fucked up shit they kept doing? My understanding is that fascism was underestimated at the time despite being fought against in the street. Maybe I have to read more perspectives on it, but i thought the KDP didn’t really expect to all be rounded up and killed if Hindenburg got in? The SDP sucked so why would they work together if they didn’t think it was totally necessary, and they both supported different candidates is my understanding at the moment, but idk if that’s correct and will read up more later
