I never read the book, but the movie was very entertaining. I think it was more intentionally about caste in India than anything, but it’s so close to class that it felt like an Indian version of Parasite. Several of the characters lent to that as well, like the American girlfriend of the rich son. She seems like a liberal archetype in the movie, better than the psycopathically aristocratic Indian family, she is disgusted by how they treat their servants, but she also tries to tell them how to bribe politicians more effectively to avoid taxes and yells at the main character (employed by the rich family) for being disgusting/poor.
Great movie, but if you can, pirate this because it's a good idea not to provide commercial support to Priyanka Chopra who's an imperialist shit.
I'd like to know more about this, I'm trying to do research but not finding anything.
