        Yes but Mexico never effectively controlled large parts of the land that it claimed, the Native nations were still independent when Anglo settlers like the Mormons started showing up. The point is, when it comes to immigration, the whole "This used to be part of Mexico" is a bad talking point because for large swathes of what is now the American West it was only true on paper, and it ignores the history and presence of indigenous people in the region.

          I didn't know that they weren't in control of modern texas/nm/az/cali back when they had it. yea, it would be an interesting thing to bring up when this toxic discussion comes up but nobody would give a shit since we(US comrades) are all deterministically doomed and the only hope we have is the international community's revolutionary capacity + the inability of our elites' to quell their revolutions.
