Yeah, when I went to look on my own I was pleasantly sruprised by the comments. There were definitly people justifying it, or focusing on how Republicans would react (a common tactic to distract when Democrats do something bad) but they arent too terrible really.
Yeah, glad to see better takes have filtered in later on. They and similar articles are still buried in controversial, though, and now I'm seeing the justification is that Biden is just doing what Congress told Trump to do when they appropriated funding for it in 2019 so there's nuance and it's still Trump's fault. It's a truly bizarre place in that sub. I don't even know why I do it to myself; I got banned years ago when I was still a for making a joke about the GOP leadership dying in the fire they started during one of the shutdowns lmao. Like, not even outright wishing for it, just riffing off of someone else's comment about Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell lighting America on fire or something.
