Once a flourishing and proud species that dominated the continent, the North American train is today now critically endangered, owing mostly to dramatic habitat loss over time to the North American car, an invasive species, and poaching by capitalists, who believe their oil to be an aphrodisiac.
Breeding programs, which started with promise and optimism, have consistently failed, leaving these magnificent creatures with an at best uncertain, at worst dire, future.
