im not saying it isn't magnificently engineered, im just saying modern materials and mechanisms, maybe a modern scope, SOMETHING. like, I get tankies get wet/hard/whatever for the AK47, and i totally see why, but even if capitalism has prevented us from doing better, we're absolutely fucking capable if someone with a head for mechanical engineering and a gun hobby puts their mind to it for a few hours with modern materials CAD software and fabrication tools.

im not saying the kalashnikov wouldn't be a probable starting point for this project if someone were to undertake it (knowing more about military history than actual guns, maybe that's totally impossible and makes me look stupid), but I know enough about modern engineering to know how far we've come, and even when this capitalist trash floods our imaginations, the tools exist for beautiful and terrible new creations better than basically anything any of us have ever seen.

Definitely not 90 years old. Although it would've been cool to see the Red Army mow down fascists with an AK.

its 2021, not 2000. i recognize revolutions aren't instant, but im like 60% sure the white army was mostly finished by 1931.
