You all know this intrinsically but in case you need to see it with your eyes: when engaging with people, build them up and let them do the tearing down.

Take it from a hetero cis omnivorous male (a guy often confused for a chud) who now loves his gay, transgender, queer brothers and sisters of all colors and nations, and looks forward to locking arms with all of them in the future.

Don’t preach - suggest.

Listen. Listen. Listen.

Hit people with pillows, not bricks.

If someone isn’t receptive, don’t waste your time.

If you actually start engaging, make it personal. I tell people about my invalid father moving in with me all the time, and in my particular situation there are and were no options afforded to us via rugged, individual capitalism. Its either this or he dies on the street with Stage 4 prostate cancer. The system is broken and we need to forge a way to allow our elders to die with dignity.

You have a story too. Tell it.

If you get frustrated go over to r/politics and dunk on liberal galaxy-brains.

Also don't try and "speak their language" by calling yourself ableist stuff like some people I've seen.
