            Yeah, the history being that cultural group was funded by the west to maintain a state of open rebellion since the 70s.

            Standard tactic, find a minority group, especially one relatively privileged under the old regime, assassinate the people willing to cut a deal with the socialists, give the hot-heads and nationalists a bunch of money and guns and point them at the nearest government building.

            If the Socialists don't retaliate they have a permanent nationalist right wing insurgency and inside a decade stir racism and hatred in the majority group, which leads to ethnic cleansing.

            If they do you get to call them ethnic cleansers straight off the bat.

        So it sounds like shit will still be bad and will likely get worse for the Rohingya. Our of cynicism, I also suspect due to the ties with China, we will start to hear more about the genocide as the west will loose its access to Myanmar?

            The bulk of the population has already been driven out. Only 400,000 left in Myanmar proper, vs. the 1.4 million who fled to Bangladesh.
