    The link is timestamped, but a summary would be "Making the vaccine open source could lead to less prepared and scrupulous companies producing and selling a vaccine to countries, then if those produced vaccines fail in some way, or have some bad side-effect, it hurts the reputation of all of the Covid vaccines, and vaccines in general.

    Basically that it is more important to make sure that all the produced vaccines are safe than it is to make the project accessible to any company or person that wants to make the Oxford vaccine.

    Thoughts on this? I saw the original tweet he's talking about here on Chapo and didn't consider that angle to it.

      Imperial bullshit lol. It's just the argument for international IP laws that are designed to keep the global south reliant on the West.

      Or do you just accept that western pharmaceutical companies care about people's health more than profit?
