Don't hold back. I can't Internet without it. I wonder how anyone does. One you've installed it, you'll wonder why you waited

It's a double edged sword; since I've largely eliminated ads from my media consumption habits, when I actually do get them (Like on the fucking gas station pumps?!?!?!?) it throws me into a feral rage

The worst part about lines and waiting rooms is having to be exposed to TV ads. They're even more obnoxious each and every time, weeks or months apart.

just do it. putting up with 2023 internet without an adblocker is miserable.

you can do firefox+ublock origin on any computer and any android phone and it feels like premium internet. i promise you wont be able to go back.

I'll just download the videos before I disable adblock lmao. I'll mute my audio and close my eyes if that doesn't work. I will never see "ad".

I might make the jump soon myself. 80% of my subscriptions are inactive accounts now. The content was incredible from like 2012-2016.

Alphabet Inc. has been rolling out the punitive nonfree JS measures to users selected at random for beta testing. This is part of a normalized corporate strategy of making their users involuntary QA testers of anti-features before rolling out the anti-feature universally.

They don't actually want to make it impossible to block ads on Youtube, they just want it to be very difficult since by using Youtube itself you are still contributing to their business model.

A tale as old as the liberal milquetoast reddit API drama.

Try changing the browser agent to make it think Firefox is Chrome. If that works, then yeah, it's cause you're on Firefox.

    Obligatory Fuck Google.

If this becomes unbeatable I'll simply stop using YouTube. Fuck ads. I hate them so fucking much.

Just happened to me too, was using ublock origin and privacy badger on Firefox for Windows 10. I tried following the advice on the ublock subreddit so here's hoping that does something (less relevant for those who don't even have an adblocker but maybe it'll help others idk).

Very cool that Youtube is presumably using a ton of resources to ensure people have to watch mind numbing adverts for shitty products they'll never buy instead of preventing 10 year olds getting an endless pipeline of Andrew Tate videos and shit.

If you keep having problems you could always try using youtube-dlp to just rip the video.

" yt-dlp 'url_goes_here' " into a command prompt and you're ripping the video just like that.

    Personally I tend to use " yt-dlp -f 18 'url_goes_here' ", where '-f 18' specifies a 480p video quality and makes the download faster.

How come I've never seen this popup even though I use all the adblockers?
