A friend is very concerned with issues of race in America and does organizing/works for NGOs. He's a Latino from a poor background, and very suspicious of critiques of Democrats/liberals as he sees them as the only ones working for his community.
What are some good readings I could give him by people of color that might introduce him to some of the problems of liberalism/Democrats and get him to incorporate class analysis into his work? I don't want to just say "read Marx" as I'd like him to be able to connect with people who also engage with race while they engage with class.

How It Might Should Be Done, by Idris Robinson, is a good analysis of events last summer that spells out how empty the conventional solutions have been.
