I hate Ukraine and Palestine comparisons from the liberal side. Ukrainians have a sovereign state with its own organized military. Ukrainians aren't stateless, they have citizenship and internationally recognized passports. Palestinians don't. Russia didn't and wouldn't cram the entire population of Ukraine to a narrow strip of land to be bombed whenever Russia wanted to. Palestinians don't get easy refugee status in Europe. People in Gaza can't even escape the war. In fact, Russia provides citizenship and residence to Ukrainians. Can you imagine Israel giving Palestinians citizenship? Even midst war, most Ukrainian cities had access to power and water, they weren't dependent on Russia for the same.

Also, and this is a big one, Russia isn't the one that turned off the gas to Ukraine, they were providing Ukraine with natural gas well past the original invasion date, and it was only when the contract expired (because the Ukrainians didn't bother renegotiating it) that the Russians started switching off the gas.

There is a comparison to be made, but it’s a comparison where Israel and Ukraine are equivalent, and Palestine and the Donbas are equivalent. And then the difference is that in Ukraine Russia was willing to step in to protect the victims.
