I'm sure plenty of you already knew, but this particular operation was heretofore unknown to me.
About a month ago I was talking to my parents about Vietnam's covid response.
They did not know that the country has almost 100 million people living there (they thought it was like 20k?!?,) did not know that the U.S. did not win the Vietnam War, did not know that Vietnam wasn't under direct U.S. control, and didn't know that Vietnam has a Communist government.
After learning all this they said "Well if that's all true, what was even the point of the war?"
