If you are ever asked this question, or any variation of it, by someone who supports Israel, do not dignify it with an answer.
It is nothing but an attempt to distract from the obvious fact that for the best part of a century the Palestinian people have been living under the boot of an oppressive apartheid regime that is guilty of crimes that far exceed anything Hamas could ever even dream of committing.
Do not give the zionist fucks an inch.
"My family had to flee from Eastern Europe 20 years ago, so believe me when I say that I know how bad Communism is"
lol one time I had a college classmate give a speech about his family escaping communism. He seemed Latino so by his age I thought maybe he meant his family was from Nicaragua, but it turns out he was Brazilian and immigrated to the US in 2004
I did let out a surprised, confused gasp when he mentioned he was Brazilian if that counts
Imagine pushing extreme sports on multiple generations only to have to denounce it
I love the denooncer. They think anything they have to say matters to a single person

I'M GONNA Haille Sellasse, Up Your Ass
I was watching Hasan’s stream yesterday. He was talking about how people have accused him of funneling money to Hamas through his donation drive (even though the charities involved are all well known normal ones). Everyone in the chat was all “if the money went to Hamas I’d give more!!”
This is the take I'm going to use, just to watch them process and then seeth and froth at the mouth
I don't denounce a god-damn thing
Israel says that the Palestinians are "human animals;" that's exactly backwards. Animals are what they want. Docile cattle who will allow themselves to be penned up, half-starved, whipped, branded, and culled by ol' Farmer Zion.
Standing up, breaking the fence, and fighting back is exactly what proves the Palestinians are still human, despite Israel's best efforts to the contrary.
I denounce them for waiting so long to mount a proper resistance and not taking more hostages.
A little bit to my surprise, ol' Norman Finkelstein, in his media appearances since this latest development in the occupation, has refused to condemn Hamas. In his interview with Chris Hedges yesterday, he explained this decision with reference to slave revolts in the US, John Brown, and the Haitian revolution. I think it's a sound comparison.
Yes yes I bring up the slave revolts whenever I get asked this. Feels like a perfect comparison to me. Most libs will admit that they think slaves freeing themselves was justification for violence, and they did kill innocent people in more than one uprising.
The most common response I hear is that "this is different, Hamas is getting funding from the real bad guys who just want to attack Jews." During many of the slave revolts, there are records of voices claiming "this isn't an honest rebellion, they are the unwitting stooges of the French/Spanish who just want to attack Brits!"

in the American War of Independence, the British offered freedom to slaves who fought against colonists. Many joined up with the "Ethiopian" regiment of the redcoats for that reason. So the lesson here is even if they are working for a foreign power... So fucking what?!?! Don't enslave them and maybe that wouldn't be their only option! Where else are they gonna get guns and training?
ShowI wouldn't call it a Bri'ish W. It was opportunism. They foresaw the loss of their colonies and so decided to use a bunch of black men as human shields in a desperate attempt to keep those colonies. It was less driven by an ideological sympathy for abolitionism than it was driven by a desire to keep their colonial holdings. The British also opportunistically supported the confederacy during the civil war because they benefited tremendously from the American cotton market in their textile industry. Had the British held onto colonial America, it is very possible they would have betrayed the Ethiopian regiment at the end of the war and put them back in chains, or even more likely, just keep using them as cannon fodder until they all died.
That's a great clip, very succinct. And thankfully (for my own sake) it's gentle to the guy saying he hates violence. For me, at least growing up in America, "nonviolence" felt like a radical position because it was contrary to the infuriating common American ethos that sometimes you jus' gotta grit yer teeth and do the deed. (the deed being dropping white phosphorus on brown town)
Another case of reactionaries figuring out how to be the most annoying pieces of shit in the world
I love how the questioner in that clip just smiles, nods and walks away instead of further replying, like 'damn, you got me'. He doesn't seem mad about it either— he looks like maybe it's really given him something to think about.
Fucking brutal, I love it. He didn't waste any time destroying that poor kid's worldview
Finkelstein's the coolest (when he's not being transphobic), the dude said he likes Hezbollah lmao
A couple weeks ago he tweeted something absolutely cutting and accurate about the early responses from AOC and Ilhan Omar, but decided to start the tweet off with some bizarre boomeristic Dumb Woman shit
He's on a half-informed anti-idpol/politically incorrect kick for the past few years, and combined with his tendency to really stick it to people and actions that he feels lack integrity, it sometimes leads him to engage in insults and boomerisms that ultimately undermine his valid points. It's a real shame because he still has a lot of value to say and he's getting in his own way when he does that.
Seems like exactly what Finkelstein would say from the other interviews I have heard.
Yes, I denounce Hamas for not fighting hard enough. Death to America, there was no WMD in Iraq, Great Satan cope and seethe
Look, if Jeremy Corbyn can still piss off literally every single rightist on the planet by refusing to dignify this question with an answer, so the fuck can you.
Yup that was the point I got to "I'm going to enjoy watching this dying ember of an empire fizzle out"
Britain deserves everything that's happening to it.
America deserves all the same things to happen to it but we didn't vote in a referendum for literally "we should be able to do whatever we want and also everybody else should also have to do whatever we want" without at least having a military budget that's 20x what it should be.
tfw no colonial empire
Also, Tony Blair should get in to the sea
Sorry, haven't really followed this. Is the idea of 'the long Corbyn' that somehow he's responsible for alleged anti-Semitism outside his tenure or time in leadership?
Corbyn is responsible for everything bad that has ever happened. Despite not even being in the party anymore and mass purges of literally anyone that even mildly expresses opposition to starmer or left wing support JC still rules it with an ironfist.
I swear someone just makes this emoji slightly longer every time it's mentioned.
“No and I don’t denounce the IRA either”
It’s all pretty much the same argument about the IRA, religious ideological differences with Hamas aside. Yes of course I support the IRA. Innocent people losing their lives is a tragedy, absolutely. And 100% of the blame falls on the UK colonizers, not the IRA though.
I denounce Hamas for not being similar enough to the PFLP and I denounce the PFLP for not being as strong as Hamas.
I denounce HAMAS for always picking Mr. Game and Watch, he's a bullshit cheap-ass character whose side-B is broken
Exactly this, you need to ground this type of argument in material analysis. Getting into a moral grandstanding contest with libs is an extremely pointless waste of time. Noone likes civilian (debatable how innocent you can claim israeli citizens are when they are actively participating in settler colonialism) casualties, what's the cause? How do you stop it? By dissolving the illegal state of Israel.
The denounce tactic is similar to red baiting where you accuse a center left politician of being a communist in order to cause them to attack communists and anyone left of liberalism. It's best to only respond by just calling it a stupid question and immediately moving on rather than taking the bait.
It simply responds to comments made on hexbear.net
I don't really know what you mean by "federate with every instance"
I've seen the bot make comments on lemmy.ml before too, I think that's what they mean.
what do you mean? I know the comments will be visible on instances we're federated with (like so: https://lemmy.ml/comment/5033536), but it shouldn't just post on other instances, should it? Idk. The bots are only listening to hexbear api.

It's responding to a lemmy.ml user on lemmy.ml here
weird. Maybe some people are posting to other instances through hexbear? I'm gonna look into that
I don't know why some posts from other instances appear here and why some don't: https://hexbear.net/?dataType=Post&listingType=All&page=1&sort=New
As far as I understand it, for a post to appear on your instances all feed, someone from your instance needs to have subscribed to the community on the other instance that the post is from.
sorry i missed my typo. i mean i want to see it more across all the other instances
lol that was an unfortunate typo. Maybe in the future. I don't really want to deal with other instances right now
Stop using that ridiculous thought-terminating cliche and you'll stop seeing it
see their edit lol they were saying they wanted our bot to appear on every instance
