More Wrong Korea posting! South Korean workers have been fighting temp contracts and other forms of indirect hire low wage bullshit for decades. This article by Korea Exposé(RIP) is probably one of few readable English-language primer on contemporary South Korean labor movement in a neoliberal era, centering on struggles of school cafeteria workers who are mostly middle aged women - commonly called '아줌마'(auntie?)s and are routinely underpaid and mistreated because of their age and gender. Women workers like them are on the forefront of service sector labor organizing in S Korea, including janitors I mentioned in my previous post about LG Twin Towers janitors' union strike against mass layoffs.
Also contains a scene of a based cafeteria worker scolding a right wing aseemblywoman apologing to the union about calling them 'mad bitches' and making disparaging remarks like 'why should these meal making neighborhood 아줌마s be full time workers' in a conversation. Mad respects
